DIY Smart Lock with Arduino and RFID

You walk up to an invisible lock that only you have the key for, and open it without even touching it. Sounds cool? Today we are going to build a simple RFID-based smart lock using an Arduino as the backbone and a few cheap components.

The technology behind this project is already used in many industries. Anyone who has worked in a modern office or used public transport will probably have used it every day. RFID (radio-frequency identification) identifies data stored on a chip in a card or dongle, and compares them to a list of tags that have already been scanned.

Is it possible to destroy a 3D printer by moving the axes by hand?

In this video I show if it’s possible to destroy a 3D printer by moving the axes by hand. For this experiment I use my old Anet A8 because that’s the best thing I can do with this printer xD. The reason for this experiment is that I got several comments from people saying that it’s not smart to move your axes by hand because it might destroy your main board. I hope that this video gives a bit of insight about this phenomenon.

A new Zelda game could be coming to Switch, and it’s not Breath of the Wild 2

A new Amazon listing for an upcoming Nintendo Switch game has us thanking the heavens – which is fitting, given that game is none other than The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The 2011 installment in the beloved Nintendo franchise launched originally on the Nintendo Wii, with a release on the Wii U eShop in 2016. It was the last mainline Zelda game before Breath of the Wild (2017) on the Nintendo Switch, and is well due a port for the expanded audience of Nintendo’s bestselling hybrid console.

Grafitti Transforms Boxcar Into a Vintage Nintendo Controller

Train graffiti isn’t uncommon and is something that might not catch your eye. But if you were stopped at a train crossing, you’d surely notice this boxcar made to look like a giant Nintendo Entertainment System game controller. The painted car includes the large plus sign and bright red buttons we all know and love.

This impressive piece of graffiti is a slightly modified version of the console’s original controller, and was tagged by TEXER ALB. The real thing has two red buttons, not three like we see here. Each circle on the boxcar represents A, L, and B that corresponds to the tagger’s initials, hence the need for the additional button.
