Arcade1Up Surprise Announces a Wi-Fi Digital Board Game Coffee Table

If you follow Arcade1Up announcements, you might be expecting another arcade cabinet or maybe even a pinball machine. But its latest product, the Arcade1Up Infinity Game Table, is a whole new category. It’s a Wi-Fi-connected coffee table with a touchscreen that can play board games, show comics books, and more.

The Infinity Game Table will come in two sizes, one with a 24-inch HD touchscreen, and one with a 32-inch HD touchscreen. While it looks like a good size for a coffee table in your living room, you can remove the legs and place it on a table or other flat surface.

How to use D-Pad controllers on the C64

While I was a big gamer on 8-bit machines back in the early 80s, joysticks always hurt my hands after playing a while. When I got my first console, a Nintendo Entertainment System, I realized how nice it was to use a D-Pad for extended game sessions. Here are two ways to use a D-Pad on the Commodore 64 (and other machines) which makes playing much more ergonomic.

NOTE: PadSwitcher64 control software now works perfectly both NTSC and PAL machines, thanks to the author for fixing that issue!

Glass is the future of data storage, as proven by Microsoft in 2016 when they showed the world how could the DNA strands be used to store data. It serves as the biological counterpart to the traditional flash- or disk-based storage.

But as Microsoft has tested, they found that glass storage is more practical. Somewhat like the traditional DVD recording media, they also used infrared layers to distort the glass but placed it inside the glass and away from the open air. According to Microsoft, the data recorded is read by lasers and decoded by the machine learning as light reflects off the glass.

Commodore 64 Mini Man Makes Matching Mini Monitor

While putting together a retro computer is a great project and can teach a lot about the inner workings of electronics, hooking that 70s- or 80s-era machine up to a modern 144 Hz 1440p display tends to be a little bit anticlimactic. To really recreate the true 8-bit experience it’s important to get a CRT display of some sort, but those are in short supply now as most are in a landfill somewhere now. [Tony] decided to create a hybrid solution of sorts by 3D printing his own Commodore replica monitor for that true nostalgia feel.

HELICOIL®, Threaded Insert or Embedded Nut in 3D Prints?

Adding threads to 3D prints does not only improve the look of them but can also improve strength and usability. I’ve been working on a couple of comments and suggestions from the last videos on that topic. We’ll be testing the strength of Böllhoffs Helicoils as well as embedded nut and compare that to the strength of heat-seated inserts. We’ll also take a look at the strength assessment of these connections and see how they compare to our test results!
