LEGO vs 3D Printing Community

Well, this is frustrating. Be sure to download all LEGO files and re-upload them elsewhere if LEGO continues to take down designs.

Remember – the interlocking block design is not trademarked, so the design can be uploaded, or even sold, without LEGO having any legal authority. The figurine designs should be considered fan art – but regardless – this is a terrible business decision by LEGO.

How to 3D Print Better Miniatures: Pt. 3 Resin-quality on a FDM printer!

Learn how to print resin-like quality miniatures on a FDM printer! By adding a .2mm nozzle and using our custom Cura profile, you can achieve hyper-detailed miniatures that look like they came off a resin printer. All miniatures in this video were printed on a $200 Creality Ender 3. Cura 4.0 is recommended (not 4.2!) and using good quality PLA is essential (we recommend eSun PLA Pro.)

How to 3D Print Better Miniatures: Pt. 1 Layer Heights

Learn which layer heights work best for miniatures on your Ender 3 or Ender 5 3D printer. NOTE: Using full step numbers for layers, even when the starting Z home position is on a micro step, means it will continually use those same micro steps and even out variations/inconsistencies that would occur hitting different micro step positions for subsequent layers as the model is printed.

Raspberry Pi Ham Radio Remote – Reviewed

One problem with ham radio these days is that most hams live where you can’t put a big old antenna up due to city laws and homeowner covenants. If you’re just working local stations on VHF or UHF, that might not be a big problem. But for HF usage, using a low profile antenna is a big deal. However, most modern radios can operate remotely. Well-known ham radio company MFJ now has the RigPi Station Server and [Ham Radio DX] has an early version and did a review.

As the name implies, the box contains a Raspberry Pi. There’s also an audio interface. The idea is to consolidate rig control along with other station control (such as rotators) along with feeding audio back and forth to the radio. It also sends Morse code keying to the radio. The idea is that this box will put your radio on the network so that you operate it using a web browser on a PC or a mobile device.

Raspberry Pi 4 Can Now Overclock to 2.147 GHz. Here’s How.

The Raspberry Pi 4 is much faster than every prior Raspberry Pi, but what if you could squeeze much more than the base 1.5 GHz out of its Broadcom BCM2711B0 CPU? Fortunately, it’s easy to overclock any Raspberry Pi and you can do it just by tweaking a few lines of text in the /boot/config.txt file. Now, with the latest firmware, we were able to reach a speed of 2,147 MHz, which we believe is a new high.

With prior firmware, the Pi 4 B’s processor was limited to a maximum overclocked frequency of 2 GHz, which is pretty good all by itself. However, the latest update let us push it up another 147 MHz. We were also able to increase the GPU clock speed to 750 MHz, a big boost over its 500 MHz stock speed and the 600 MHz we had overclocked it to previously.
