From THEC64 Group on Facebook, comes a sneak peek at the packaging for their upcoming Commodore 64 full sized mode to accompany the C64 Mini!

We are another step closer this week!

What you’re seeing here is a sneaky peek at the full-size THEC64 packaging, which has now been sent for final checks before the button can be pressed. A clearer and better view will be coming once it has all been approved, but as you can see from the image, it’s looking good.

A few more teases are due over the next week or two, before the planned official announcement at the end of this month (June 2019). We are all excited to reveal the timeline and further details to everyone, but we need to keep a lid on things for just a little while longer.

More next week as we build up to the final reveal!

Nintendo 3DS emulation is somewhat possible on Android with an unofficial Citra port.

The Nintendo DS is one of the best portable consoles to emulate on Android, and with good reason. The emphasis on touchscreen controls in DS games translates well to smartphone gameplay, and the lack of buttons on Android phones can be rectified by using a Bluetooth or wired gaming controller. I was thinking about this and it got me wondering…what about the Nintendo 3DS? The 3DS is another handheld console with the same traits, and searching on GitHub, I found that there is actually a Nintendo 3DS emulator for Android smartphones. Meet the highly experimental Citra for Android port.

Unofficial Citra for Android is impressive in its own right

What makes this unofficial Citra for Android port so impressive is not that it’s a perfectly functioning emulator without any issues that nobody has discovered. In fact, far from it. It has its issues, it has its bugs, and it’s certainly not even remotely functional for more intensive titles. Having said all of that, some games absolutely work perfectly, or close to perfect, depending on your device. All of those facts contribute to how impressive this emulator is, but one fact takes the cake. Citra for Android is using Dolphin Emulator’s front-end as a GUI, but with the entire back-end of Citra ported behind it.

In this video, ETA Prime tests out the performance of a very powerful single board computer called the LattePanda Alpha but he also added a GTX 1650 video card using an M.2 to PCIe x4 adapter and a Pico Power supply to add power to the Board and the card. The Angry Sun’s relentless urge to burn has been replaced by a robotic drive to obliterate all living things.

Nothing imprints on your mind quite like a scary moment from a game that’s not supposed to be scary. This is doubly true when you’re a soft kid who makes a point of staying away from media that’s gory or frightening. Nobody says “I’ll play a Super Mario game” because they enjoy the feeling of being hunted down by a fire-wrapped deity. But that’s pretty much how I felt when the Angry Sun made its first relentless assassination attempt against me.
