The Super Nintendo was released in North America in 1991 and it featured an almost identical lockout chip from the NES known as the CiC. By 1994 cartridge based disk copiers became popular which easily circumvented any region protection. In this video we look at different methods Nintendo used to detect copiers and lock out backup copies.

Before Nintendo and Atari: How a black engineer changed the video game industry forever
Atari. Magnavox. Intellivision.
Each evokes memories of the golden age of video games, which brought the first wave of consoles you could connect to your home television.
But there’s an oft-forgotten person from that era whose contributions to the industry still resonate today: a black engineer named Jerry Lawson.
Lawson oversaw the creation of the Channel F, the first video game console with interchangeable game cartridges – something the first Atari and Magnavox Odyssey systems did not use.

The Creator of the Konami Code, Kazuhisa Hashimoto, has passed away.
The Konami code is easily the most memorable cheat code in gaming, spreading its wings outside of the gaming world to appear in song lyrics, movies and television shows. To this day, Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start, is an Easter egg you can still find in AAA games, and has appeared in the likes of the Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid series, to name a few.
The Konami code is the brainchild of Kazuhisa Hashimoto – the developer of the Famicom port of Gradius. It’s now being reported that Hashimoto has sadly passed away.

Eastern Iowa man wins 20 million points, world record playing Japanese arcade game in his kitchen
Not many people have a full-size Galaga arcade game in their kitchen but Jordan Dorrington at Cedar Rapids does.

Jordan recently broke the Galaga world record with 20,980,450.
And yes he did it in his kitchen. To break the world you have an incredible amount of skill, patience, and endurance.

Innovate Asterisk Unveils a 3D-Printed RaspberryPi 4-Powered Tablet
Voice-over-IP specialist YouTuber Innovate Asterisk has published a step-by-step guide to assembling a Raspberry Pi-powered tablet, comprised of common off-the-shelf parts and housed in a custom 3D-printed case.
“The concept of the project is to develop a 3D-printable, Raspberry Pi-based tablet. All parts (components) must be easy to obtain and readily available,” Innovate Asterisk explains. “It must have a battery, and it must be the primary source of power (meaning, it will charge up with a cable plugged in, but must have enough power to run without it.) It must be able to operate perfectly fine without a keyboard (meaning, everything in the user interface should work without an issue even if you don’t have a keyboard and mouse plugged in.)”
