We can make our 3D-printed parts even more capable when we start mixing them with some essential “mechanical vitamins.” By combining prints with screws, nuts, fasteners, and pins, we get a rich ecosystem for mechanism-making with capabilities beyond what we could simply print alone.
E3D, the 3D printer parts company, has announced the release of its long-awaited SuperVolcano HotEnd add-on which boasts up to 11x the volumetric throughput of the company’s V6 HotEnd.
E3D, the British producer of all things related to 3D printing machines, has launched a new HotEnd upgrade called the SuperVolcano.
This HotEnd is compatible with printers that can integrate the popular E3D V6. However, the SuperVolcano has up to 11x the volumetric throughput of the V6. In a test done with PLA at 220°C, the SuperVolcano had a throughput of 6600 mm3 per minute.

I’ve started the PiBro build thread in our Forums, this is a larger handheld based around a Raspberry Pi 3 A+ and Adafruit Joy bonnet with a 2.2inch LCD.
There are many options for upgrading the control board on your 3D printer. Ramps based control boards running Marlin are all but standard these days. Most people think they should just get a more powerful version of their current setup, but Duet3D offers superior hardware and firmware albeit, at a higher price point. With the addition of the Duet Maestro, we now have a lower cost yet fully functional option for running RepRapFirmware on our printers.
The final touches have been applied to the GB/GBC/GBA modular case, and the files are on my Thingiverse! I’ve made several updates, design changes and fixes to this “final” (I hope) version of the setup.
I printed out the full set of parts for version 2.3 of my Gameboy cartridge modular case and snapped everything together last night. The cartridge pieces work perfect and everything fits together nice and snug, though the new frame pieces I added in version 2.3 need a slit bit of work.
